… is just around a corner, and I wonder how Baffin Babes will celebrate this year’s Norwegian’s National Day. Will they dress up, wave with flags, eat hot dogs and traditional sour cream porridge, sing and arrange the procession? I read on their homepage yesterday that three of them actually took a dip in a seal hole despite minus 35 degrees air temperature. I think that they are not just Baffin Babes, they are Super - Babes. We are all looking forward to see their videos and pictures and hear them talk. In the mean time and because of 17th of May: Horray for Baffin Babes and Norway and Alexander Rybak.

PS: I wrote about Chocolate Sherpa several months ago, and I forgot to write that he is now back from his “chocolate to Everest Base Camp” - mission. Congratulations on “Highest Chocolate Tasting” and delivering of Acticoa chocolate. Fund raising is until 1st of July 2009, and I hope it will be successful too. Horray for Chocolate Sherpa too!

The tale about harvesting the air is the story of going up to the mountain and gathering special kind of air. In a particular moment at dawn namely, the various winds blend together and change the air making it special.  Air harvesters would then gather this special air in sacks and let it free in their homes believing that the air harvested from the peaceful mountains encouraged people to be more healthier and happy. In these homes, these families never knew conflict nor how to hate. They were known as the air harvesters. I heard this story from my father long time ago, but I forgot it until today when I read it on Mara’s homepage.

Talking about air and various winds - I just got an email from Baffin Babes telling about cold and crispy wind in Qikiqtarjuaq wherefrom they will start their expedition to Baffin Island covering a distance of 1200 kilometres in the untouched wilderness. I already wrote about them here.  They will start tomorrow on March 8 celebrating the International Women’s Day. Wish them well and a lot of positive and happy windair. Tvi - Tvi.

Before I knew their real name and who they really were, I imagined Louise Arner Boyd, Marguerite Baker Harrison, Josephine Peary and Liv Arnesen sat together and talked about spirit of adventure. Then I got their names and their website, and I could see that my imagination wasn’t so bad. They are not just ordinary babes. They are Baffin Babes: Emma Simonsson, Vera Simonsson, Ingebjørg Tollefsen and Kristin Folsland Olsen. They will in March this year put on their skis, take their sleds with approximately 100 kg each, and during 80 days try to cover a distance of 1400 kilometres on spectacular Baffin Island which is the largest island in Canada, and the fifth largest island in the world. When you ask them why do they do this, they answer that it’s question of freedom flow: it’s pure, its simple and its satisfying. Become a Baffin Babe supporter. Best of luck to Baffin Babes.

PS: One of Baffin Babes, Kristin Folsland, is guiding CNN’s Becky Anderson on her search for the Spirit of Adventure
