Yesterday I got an email with the following question: “What happens when a solitary day hike turns into the ultimate test of survival?” A friend of mine sent me a link to the trailer for 127 Hours, an upcoming film directed by Danny Boyle about a young rock climber named Aron Ralston who, in 2003, amputated his own arm to free himself from a rock.  As much as I admire Aron Ralston, I will not be seeing this movie. I prefer to watch the documentary. Anyways, here comes the trailer for 127 Hours:

Today, I got a link to Dean Potters new video, and I still can’t stop thinking about Jonathan Livingston, Icarus and how all limitations are self imposed: “You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”

Less than 20 women in the world have climbed Earth’s seven highest peaks. Lei Wang is an American citizen now living in Boston but born in China who is currently training for a 2010 expedition to Mt. Everest. If she successfully summits Everest, she’ll become the first Asian-American woman who has until now climbed six of the seven summits (Kilimanjaro, Denali, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Carstensz Pyramid, Vinson and Everest) and skied to both North Pole and South Pole. Once Lei has climbed Everest, she’ll be one of only 10 people to have completed what’s referred to as the “7 + 2” (Seven Summits and the Two Poles). She hopes that her example will especially inspire Chinese People, American immigrants and women around the world to challenge themselves to do something they once considered impossible.Tvi - Tvi - Good - Luck - Lei.

Giving a big thank you to people who post their beautiful images of nature on the Internet. They save me in the time when I am not able to climb mountains. Goran showed me yahoo’s travel page with world’s most amazing views yesterday, and I am still thinking about Tiger’s Nest and Mt. Matterhorn.
