i2p

Impossible2Possible (i2P) is a US and Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring, educating and equipping a generation of global problem solvers committed to sustainable living. In 2007, Adventure Runner and i2P founder, Ray Zahab and two other runners made history by running 4300 miles across the entire Sahara Desert, and in the process of raising the bar of what we think possible, also raised awareness for clean-water initiatives in Africa. The success of the Sahara run inspired Ray to found i2P, an organization dedicated to using adventure to inspire and equip a generation of young sustainability leaders:

The mission of impossible2Possible (i2P) is to encourage youth to reach beyond their perceived limits, and to use adventure as a medium to educate, inspire and empower our global community to make positive change in the world. i2P aims to equip today’s youth with the understanding and belief that they have the power to change the world. We envision a world of achievers that believe in their hearts that nothing is out of the realm of possibility!

While we’re still waiting for good weather in The Home of the Giants to come, I decided today to keep my brain active and ready for my next hiking by reading best hikes and best hikings regions in the world. When I saw the photo that you’ll find at the bottom of this post, I thought first that someone did great job in Photoshop and made just one more beautiful photo using an almost alien landscape as the background. But after surfing the net for some time I found out that this photo was actually taken in the Dolomites.

I really wouldn’t mind to spend my next holiday in the Dolomites. In case you want to spend your holiday in the Dolomites (”to holimite”), here is a  great homepage made by Dan & Janine Patitucci who offer Dolomite hiking and biking tours.

Canada has The Group of Seven, and Bergen has The Seven Mountain Hike. We summited only six of seven mountains: Ulriken, Fløien, Rundemannen, Sandviksfjell, Lyderhorn and Damsgård Mountain. We didn’t summit the last one in this group, namely  Løvstakken because the directional signs on these trails are really bad and difficult to find. For someone who is doing this hike for the first time in his life and on his own, it means several hours with extra kilometers. Here are some photos:

Wendy Thompson Hut

Last Sunday we went to Wendy Thompson Hut located in the Marriott Basin, north of Whistler in hope that we'll be able to climb Mt. Marriott the day after. Unfortunately, on the next morning neither the weather nor the snow conditions did allow us to summit. But, we'll go back.
